Last week, OpenMandriva Technical Committee (board of development team) published the release plan decided by the development team (aka Cooker).
- Friday 8 November: Release Candidate 1
- Friday 15 November: Release Candidate 2
- Friday 22 November: FINAL product
In each case, the process is this one:
- 7 days before releasing, an iso is built under the responsibility of the Release Manager;
- Quality Assurance (QA) team starts verifying the isos for new issues;
- 5 days beforeQA team vote for taking a “Go” or “No Go” decision;
- 3 days before Technical Committee an QA team meets for organizing next step;
- In case of “Go” decision, an announcement is made on this release as public, and the next step is prepared;
- In case of “No Go” decision, the process restart from the beginning, and the releasing is delayed for one week. And so on until the release is accepted by QA.
Note: today (Mon 2013-11-04), RC1 has been accepted by QA team. You may have noticed that releases are scheduled on Friday. To quote Tomasz Paweł Gajc aka TPG, member of Technical Committee:
Releases should happen on Fridays – this may sound a little bit odd but good things starts on weekend
